PLATELET RICH PLASMA THERAPY
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy enhances the body’s natural ability to regenerate by concentrating platelet rich plasma - growth factors and stem cells into open punctured channels via microneedling or superficial injections.
Platelets are cells that contain regenerative protein, clot blood and contain over 300 active growth factors to help improve healing by stimulating normal tissue repair instead of inflammatory cytokines that develop scarring. PRP has the ability to regenerate cells by creating new blood vessels (increasing permeability and susceptibility or more growth factors), and stimulating cellular growth including: collagen, keratin and elastin. In application it improves the dermis cellular matrix, improves acne scarring, is anti aging - which results in tight, clear and radiant skin. In hair PRP stimulates hair follicle by growth factors that signal tissue to regenerate and multiply, increasing blood supply to the follicle, increasing shaft size, and triggers/maintain growth phase of the hair cycle.
With PRP patience is the key, because it is 100% natural rejuvenation – each person will respond differently. It’s been seen in evidenced based peer reviewed journal articles, it can take up to 3 treatments for the best results and that men typically see a faster response because of their genetic makeup. At the same time this varies greatly, some people needing only one treatment and others 3 or more.
THE “VAMPIRE” FACIAL
As we age, especially after 30 our collagen and elastin decreases which is why we begin to sag, have uneven texture, and lose moisture. Existing acne scars cannot heal itself once the texture begins to pit and crater.
PRP Therapy also known as the “Vampire facial” is the process which uses the client’s own blood that is centrifuged removing unnecessary components and therefore concentrating PRP, which is then infused back into the skin.
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) otherwise known as microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that uses controlled needling devices. These singular or multifaceted needle devices create punctures that create controlled injury so that the tissue is stimulated to induce the regenerative healing process (wound healing cascade), revascularization, breaking down hardened scar tissue, enhance cellular growth and turnover; thus new collagen and elastin. In conjunction with application of PRP the cellular regeneration is initiated.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PRP
How long does it take?
The PRP treatment typically takes about 60-75 minutes to complete, depending on the area being treated and the amount of PRP being used. During the treatment, our experienced practitioner will draw a small amount of blood from your arm and process it to extract the PRP. The PRP is then injected into the targeted area to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture and tone.
Is it painful?
Most patients report that PRP treatments are not painful, although some discomfort or mild pain may be experienced during the injection process. We use a topical anesthetic cream and/or ice to numb the area before the injection, ensuring that you are as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure.
What is the recovery time?
PRP treatments have minimal downtime and recovery time. You may experience some redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site for a few days after the treatment. However, you can return to your normal activities immediately after the treatment, although it is recommended that you avoid strenuous activity or exercise for the first 24-48 hours after the treatment.
What are the side effects?
PRP treatments are considered safe and effective, with minimal side effects. Some patients may experience temporary side effects such as redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. These side effects typically subside within a few days to a week after the treatment.
